Bettman establishes player hotline to help with emotional and physical abuse from coaches

This just in, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman has announced that the league has instituted a mandatory diversity and inclusion program for head coaches, assistant coaches, minor league coaches, general managers and assistant general managers. 

This news, of course, comes in the wake of several allegations hurled against NHL coaches like Mike Babcock, Bill Peters and Marc Crawford in recent weeks. For more details, check out this reporting from TSN’s Frank Seravalli:



Additionally, Seravalli’s counterpart at Sportsnet, Chris Johnston, reports that the NHL will establish a “hotline” for players to call in should they have any issues with coaches or GMs.

Interesting. I’ll say this… for better or worse, things just aren’t what they used to be. 

I feel like this is a good opportunity for us all to show compassion and learn what happens when we make a mistake publicly. What’s the value in turning an ignorant joke into a public shaming when @TrevBeggs has already owned up to his mistake and has made no excuses for himself.
