Big hockey equipment company preparing to file for bankruptcy

Performance Sports Group Ltd, who is the maker of Bauer hockey gear is looking to file for bankruptcy as early as today Reuters released late Friday night.

With how fierce the competition for sports equipment is and how many other companies there are now, it is hard to keep pace for some companies. Unfortunately for Performance Sports Group Ltd, that is the case. They consolidated Baseball and Softball operations this summer as well as scaling back some other operations to try and save on costs and improve their financial situation, It doesn't seem to have helped. They will look to file in Canada and the US.

Bauer was a big player in the NHL, so for this to happen, is huge. Some of their featured athletes include Alex Ovechkin, Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, Claude Giroux, Steven Stamkos and Henrik Lundqvist. Those are some pretty big fish that might become free agents in the hockey endorsement world.
