The Detroit Red Wings have handed out their second big contract of the week, and their salary cap situation is starting to look somewhat precarious as a result.

The team officially announced the signing of goaltender Petr Mrazek on Wednesday, and while the team did not initially disclose the terms of the deal Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman has reported that Mrazek will earn $3.85 million this season and $4.15 million next season.

This, along with the contract signed by Danny Dekeyser earlier this week, now puts the Red Wings nearly $5 million dollars over the cap, and now many are closely watching what general manager Ken Holland will do next to free up some salary.

Despite the headaches for Red Wings management, this was a hugely important signing for the organization, and they got it done for significantly less than the price tag that Mrazek was looking for, $5 million per season.
