The Pittsburgh Penguins picked up a huge win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday day night, this coming off the heels of a off of a back to back no less and now it seems they have received a pretty nice reward for their efforts.

Surprisingly in spite of having to play back to back games on Friday and Saturday night the Penguins were back out on the ice on Sunday morning for practice. It is unclear at this time why the Penguins would choose to engage in such a grueling schedule but there was one notable addition to the Penguins roster on Saturday at practice when veteran forward Patric Hornqvist showed up on the ice for the first time since suffering an injury earlier this month.

Hornqvist was out on the ice wearing a grey jersey, a non-contact jersey, which may signal that he is still a little ways away from making a full return to the Penguins lineup. That being said this was the first time Hornqvist had stepped out onto the playing surface in the last 15 days so this has to be viewed as a very good sign for the Penguins organization. Although you would not have been able to tell on Saturday night when the Penguins trounced the Toronto Maple Leafs by a margin of 6 - 1, the absence of the veteran Hornqvist has been a noticeable one and the sooner he can return to provide his unique brand of offense to the the team the better it will be for the Penguins.

Hornqvist was off to a solid start this season with 5 goals and 5 assists for a total of 10 points through the first 14 games of the 2019 - 2020 National Hockey League regular season, but that was derailed back on November 2nd when he suffered an injury against the Edmonton Oilers. In the video captured by Anderson, Hornqvist could be seen skating on the ice and doing some stickhandling drills prior to the Penguins practice on Sunday morning, again another positive sign for a player dealing with what has been described as a lower body injury.
