Big update on Morgan Rielly from Monday morning.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have just received some great news.

Although Morgan Rielly, arguably the organization's most important defenseman, is still not yet fully recovered from the foot injury that has kept him out of the line up for nearly 2 months now there were some very positive signs from Rielly on Monday. The veteran defenseman was spotted on the ice with his teammates for the first time since he suffered a fractured foot back on the 12th of January, clearly a sign that he is nearing the latter stages of his recovery and will soon be back in the Maple Leafs lineup.

The Leafs blue line has unquestionably been their biggest weakness this season and that problem has only been exacerbated by the fact that the team has seen a number of their top defensemen suffer injuries throughout the season, with Rielly's injury arguably being the most impactful to the team. An imminent return for Rielly would mean that he will now have the chance to get a solid number of games under his belt and get back into game shape prior to the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs where the Maple Leafs will be desperately hoping to advance beyond the first round.
