St. Louis Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington grew up as a huge Curtis Jospeh fan… but ironically it wasn’t Joseph’s time with the Blues that drew Binnington in. The breakout star of the 2018-19 season grew up in suburban Toronto, Ontario and fell in love with Joseph and his CuJo inspired goalie mask during his time with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

“I was a Leafs fan. Growing up in Toronto, you pretty much had to be,” Binnington told stlouisblues.com. “My dad put me in that goalie school for nine weeks every summer for six or seven years, and there were some days when ‘Cujo’ would come in and train there. He would bring a 24-pack of waters on the ice with him. Not very eco-friendly nowadays but you get the point. It was great for us young goalies to be able to see him work like that. He had a unique competitive style. I liked his helmet, his pads. I was a fan.”

And now, Binnington is paying tribute to his hero by donning a mask that pays tribute to Joseph’s iconic mask with the Blues.

For those who don’t recall, here’s CuJo himself back in the 90s:

Iconic.

And now, Binnington's take on the classic design:

Incredible. I can't wait to see this classic bucket in action, especially when the Blues rock these vintage 90s uniforms this season:
