If you, like me, are sitting around waiting for the return of hockey in the National Hockey League you still have several days of waiting ahead of you. That being said though there is still plenty of quality content out there featuring your favorite NHL stars to consume, the only problem of course is that almost all of it fails to capture the competitive excitement that you get from watching actual competition. This however may be the exception.

I must admit I did not see this one coming but in an awesome turn of events the Spittin Chiclets podcast put together one of the most exciting competitions of the summer. That competition has come to be known as the "Sandbag Invitational" and it featured two beloved former NHL players in Paul "Biznasty" Bissonette and Ryan Whitney taking on two current stars of the game in the form of Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby and Colorado Avalanche star forward Nathan MacKinnon. Unfortunately the 4 NHL personalities were not dueling it out on the ice this time around, but instead they challenged one another on the golf course.

The result is one of the more entertaining hockey-related videos I have seen all summer as the 4 men battle it out on the golf course in not so serious fashion. To be clear I truly believe that all 4 men desperately wanted to win, I don't think you could make it to the NHL without having that type of competitive drive inside of you, however it was obvious that having a good time was the primary focus of the event. Throughout the video you can see all 4 men cracking jokes at one another's expense, poking fun at themselves, and laughing it up all throughout and you would be hard pressed to argue that this was not a successful outing for all 4 men here.

Of course a big shout out here has to go to CCM for sponsoring the whole event and putting it together, I know as a hockey fan I was pretty happy to see this come across my screen this morning. The video is a bit long at 16 minutes but if you've got the time I'm sure you will enjoy it as much as I did.
