Blackhawks reward the mind behind the team with a big new contract.

The Blackhawks announced a big new contract extension for their head coach Joel Quenneville earlier this month, and now the mastermind behind the team is getting his reward.

The team has announced a three year contract extensions for their general manager Stan Bowman who has done the impossible over the past 6 years, constantly rebuilding major pieces of his team while simultaneously managing to keep his team an elite contender year in and year out.

“I am proud of how much Stan and his staff have accomplished and have great confidence in his leadership as our organization continues to strive for consistent excellence,” said team president John McDonough in a statement. “Under Stan’s guidance, our hockey operations department is strong across all levels, including scouting, player evaluation and development, and salary cap management. He has created a sound structure that Blackhawks fans can be excited about for many years to come.”

It's hard to imagine anyone criticizing this move, Bowman is widely regarded as one of the best in the game, and with him a Blackhawk through at least the 2020-2021 season, the Blackhawks look like they will continue to be a serious threat for years to come.
