The Detroit Red Wings’ losing streak hit 12 games last night when they managed to get defeated once again, this time at the hands of the Jets in Winnipeg.

Fans are hoping it will soon come to an end, but another wish might be atop their list at the moment. It appears more and more clear that fans are hoping general manager Steve Yzerman will fire head coach Jeff Blashill.

The chatter might have finally gotten to the ears of the bench boss, who addressed his job security on Tuesday night, after the 5-1 loss to the Jets.

“I get that,” he said after his 12th straight loss. “For me, all I’m doing is what I always do and that’s be solution based and worry about what we can control. What we can control right now is learning from this game and make sure we are helping our team get better. Find solutions. Come Thursday and worry just about that. That’s it.”

According to Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press, Yzerman has not given any indication he will make a coaching change this season.

The GM has said in the past that he would prefer to spend this season observing. This is the second prolonged losing stretch of the season, with the Wings going 1-11-1 from Oct. 12-Nov. 6.
