Blashill publicly slams one of his best players

The Detroit Red Wings lost 6-2 to the Edmonton Oilers last night, and head coach Jeff Blashill was certainly not pleased about the result.

There was already some drama during the game when Blashwill pulled his number one goaltender Jimmy Howard on Wednesday night. Blashill wasted little time to send in backup Petr Mrazek after the fourth goal went in. The general consensus from fans in Detroit, at least so far, appears to be that Howard has played well enough all season to warrant some leeway from his coach.

Blashill will now face more criticism as he publicly slammed one of his best forwards, Anthony Mantha, after the game. In 22 games so far this season, Mantha has recorded 10 goals and 19 points.

Mantha was still able to generate three shots on goal during the tough night, while Andreas Athanasiou and Tomas Tatar were both minus 4.

Let's hope it will only fuel Mantha for the next game.
