Blue Jackets receive some terrible news on the injury front

This just in, according to a report from Columbus Blue Jackets insider Aaron Portzline of The Atheltic, Blue Jackets forward Gustav Nyquist will be out of the team's lineup for the next five to six months while he rehabilitates from shoulder surgery.

Check it out:

This is obviously a HUGE blow to the Blue Jackets' offence as Nyquist was the team's second-leading scorer just seven points behind team leader Pierre-Luc Dubois. The 31 year old Nyquist put up an impressive 15 goals and 42 points in 70 games in 2019-20, his first season with the Blue Jackets after nearly a decade with the Detroit Red Wings.

The offseason additions of players like Max Domi and Mikko Koivu may help pick up some of the slack in Nyquist's absence, but don't be surprised if the Blue Jackets dip their toe into free agency to add some scoring punch. How good would a player like Mike Hoffman or Mikael Granlund look in the Blue Jacket's top six forward group?
