Blues coach Craig Berube calls out Jamie Benn over scuffle with Binnington

In case you missed it last night, St. Louis Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington found himself in a bit of a scuffle when he decided to go after Dallas Stars captain Jamie Benn in the waning seconds of the 2nd period of Game 4.

With the Blues down 4-1 entering the third, you can’t blame Binnington for being a little testy, but unfortunately he ends up taking a penalty as a result of his overzealous actions.

Check it out:

Binnington followed this up by giving a nice chop to Stars goaltender Ben Bishop on his way off the ice, as well:

Immediately after the game Blues head coach Craig Berube met with reporters and defender his goaltender’s actions while also calling out Benn saying, “I don’t know what Jamie Benn’s doing.”

Check it out:

“I don’t know what Jamie Benn’s doing. Skating down there and… getting in Binner’s face. So, he’s just reacting a bit there. He’s (Binnington) a competitor.”

For the clip above though, it looks to be Binnington who initiates contact with Benn. Maybe it’s possible that Benn said something to ignite the Blues goaltender? Benn certainly didn’t really appear to do anything wrong.

In any case, the war of words is officially on and it should make for an entertaining final three games in this series.
