Most of us were cheering for Patrick Maroon during the 2018-19 season, he who took a discounted one-year deal with the St. Louis Blues to come back home to be with his son Anthony.

The cherry on top came when he recorded three goals and seven points in 26 playoffs games to help the Blues win their first championship in team history back in June. He did  score the overtime winner in Game 7 of the second round of the postseason.

Now, he’s an unrestricted free agent once again, and teams are looking to get him signed, but most of us assumed he would re-sign in St. Louis, to stay close to his son and get the Blues to compete for back to back championship…

Well, it seems like the Blues aren’t that interested. According to team insider Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic, Maroon’s offers are all for one year, again and St. Louis’ interest remains limited.

They could be willing to lose him for free on the market.

Unfortunately for the Blues and Maroon, becoming a hometown hero earns a player a bigger salary cap hit. That might be why the Blues are staying away.

It has been reported that the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames are among the clubs who have expressed interest.

Maroon has proven that is well-suited to playoff hockey, and he is a big presence that can crash the net, therefore, we know he will find a suitor this summer.

A lot of people simply expected he would be back in St. Louis… In the meantime, he will be busy trying to shed some pounds off his Dad Bod…
