Blues provide devastating update on Ryan O'Reilly and Vladimir Tarasenko.

A disaster in St. Louis.

The St. Louis Blues are currently fighting to get back into playoff contention, but unfortunately the team has just been hit with a wave of unfortunate news.

According to an official announcement from the Blues, the team has lost two of their star forwards for the next several weeks with both captain Ryan O'Reilly and forward Vladimir Tarasenko going down as a result of injury.

In the case of O'Reilly, the Blues captain has suffered a broken foot and will be headed to injured reserve for quite some time. According to the Blues O'Reilly will be re-evaluated in six weeks, which likely indicates he will be out for even longer than that.

The news regarding Tarasenko isn't much better with the Blues forward expected to miss four weeks as a result of a hand injury that will also see him making a trip to the injured reserve list.

The Blues are currently sitting in 5th in the NHL's Central Division ahead of only the Nashville Predators, Arizona Coyotes and the Chicago Blackhawks, and any attempt to climb those rankings and get back into the playoff picture has just become considerably more difficult.
