The St. Louis Blues were afraid they would lose forward Ty Rattie if they ever placed him on waivers, and on Wednesday those fears were confirmed.

After doing everything they could to avoid placing Rattie on waivers, the Blues made the decision on Tuesday to waive Rattie as they felt they were stunting his development by limiting his play, unfortunately less than 24 hours later he was claimed by a rival National Hockey League team.

Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman is now reporting that the Carolina Hurricanes have grabbed Rattie off the waiver wire, leaving the Blues without what they clearly believed was a solid young prospect.

Rattie was drafted by the Blues in the second round of the 2011 draft, and now he belongs to Carolina who claims him for nothing.
