Tragic news hit the TSN family this week as it was revealed that the victim of Toronto's 93rd homicide of this year was Jonathan Gayle-West, a member of the sports broadcasting crew.

Gayle-West was an employee of Canadian sports network TSN. He worked on programs including SportsCentre with Jay and Dan, BarDown and with TSN 1050.

It all started when police responded to reports of a vehicle crashing into a tree at the intersection of Islington Avenue and St. Andrews Boulevard in Kingsview Village on Wednesday around 6:30 p.m. When officers arrived, they located a blue Honda Civic that had travelled off the road and struck a tree.

After the examined the car and looked inside, they found the victim in the driver's seat without vital signs. There were no other occupants in the vehicle. While police said efforts were made to resuscitate him, Gayle-West was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ever since the tragic news was made public, several members of the TSN family, including renown NHL insider Bob McKenzie, have used social media to gather information as police keeps trying to get more information on Gayle-West to find his killer. No arrest has been made and investigators are requesting anyone who was travelling on Islington Avenue between Highway 401 and Dixon Road around 6 p.m. Wednesday to contact police if they have dash-cam footage that could help the investigation move forward.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact police at 416-808-7400 or anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).

A tweet and video tribute in memory of Gayle-West was posted by TSN's Twitter account Thursday.

"Jon was very well-liked by those who worked with him," the tweet read. "He will be missed."

Our condolences go out to the entire TSN family and the loved ones of Gayle-West at this very difficult time.
