Boeser a potential Calder favorite?

Things are finally looking up for the Vancouver Canucks.

The Canadian team has accepted the need for a rebuild, and management has acted accordingly in the last year or so.

After trading for young talented prospects at the last Trade Deadline, there are top prospects like Brock Boeser who can make a difference in the success of the Canucks.

According to the Hockey Writers, Boeser has potential to sneak into the Calder trophy race, and become the National Hockey League’s best rookie this season.

The 20-year-old forward was selected 23rd overall by the Canucks in the 2015 draft. He has played college hockey, completing two full seasons with the Fighting Hawks of the University of North Dakota. In 74 games he scored 43 goals and 94 points.

Washington Capitals forward T.J. Oshie bragged about Boeser’s talent, which explains how much of an impact he could have on the Canucks.

"He’s got skill, strength. He has a great hockey sense and a good work ethic," Oshie said. "You put all that together, you’ve got a pretty special hockey player."

Last season, Boeser was called-up by Vancouver, and recorded four goals and five points in nine games. He scored two of his goals with the Sedin twins on the power-play, which hints at an already-productive chemistry.

His strong hockey IQ, his work ethic and his defensive skill-set will place him in Calder contention.

Stay tuned, Canucks fans.
