The Boston Bruins and Carolina Hurricanes have yet to take to the ice for their Eastern Conference Final showdown, but the bad blood is already flowing on Boston radio.

Earlier today, Fred Toettcher, co-host of the the pro-Bruins ”Toucher and Rich" program on Boston’s WBZ-FM, abruptly hung up the phone on Carolina reporter Chip Alexander who had called in to talk about the Hurricanes and Bruins series. “Toucher’s” reasoning?

"I just can't listen to a guy with a southern accent talk hockey."

For real? C’mon buddy…

Scroll to the 20 minute mark and listen for yourself:

Keep it classy, “Toucher”. It’s garbage like this that makes all Bruins fans look bad.

For what it's worth Alexander is one of the most respected beat reporters in the NHL, he's not just "a guy with a southern accent." He has covered the  Hurricanes and ACC sports for the Raleigh News & Observer for years and, like I mentioned earlier, he's one of the most respected beat reporters in all of hockey.
