Boston radio host roasts the Hurricanes after Game 2 performance.

This ladies and gentlemen is the very definition of bulletin board material.

The Carolina Hurricanes had a very rough outing in Game 2 of their Eastern Conference Final series against the Boston Bruins and after the Hurricanes have been a feel good story all season it seems some are relishing the opportunity to kick them while they are down. For those of you who did not have a chance to tune in to Game 2 on Sunday, the Bruins effectively dominated from start to finish. Although the Hurricanes did come out with a good temp early on in the game the Bruins would finish the first period with a 2 - 0 lead and never really looked back from there. The Bruins would put up 6 total goals on Hurricanes goaltender Petr Mrazek before the Hurricanes would answer and by then it was already far too late, allowing the Bruins to coast to a 6 - 2 victory and a 2 - 0 series lead on top of it.

After Game 1 Rob Brind'Amour made it clear that the effort his team showed would not have been enough to warrant a regular season game and to see them respond like this after being called out in such a fashion is indeed a troubling sign. That being said the comments made by radio host Lou Merloni of WEEI and NBC Sports Boston following the game were harsh even when taking that into consideration. Merloni outright suggested that the Hurricanes, who have only played 2 games of a potential 7 in this series, were already done and dusted.

"After a couple of tough series vs Toronto and Columbus, it was nice of the NHL to let the Bruins play the Hurricanes before they have to play in the Stanley Cup. It’s a nice little scrimmage so the boys can work up a sweat," said the Boston radio host on Sunday.

I think the Bruins have been very impressive in this series and the Hurricanes have underwhelmed to be sure, but no rational person including every man in the Bruins locker room truly believes this series is over. The Bruins still need to pick up 2 more wins and comments like this can actually have an adverse impact on the team you are seemingly rooting for. Fansided's Cardiac Cane was quick to respond to the comments by suggesting that Merloni's words should be placed inside every locker at PNC arena.

I for one can not wait for Game 3.
