Bottom ranked team willing to deal one of their top forwards but the price is high.

With just ten points on the season the Arizona Coyotes are dead last in the National Hockey League, and it sounds like they intend to continue building for the future under the leadership of general manager John Chayka.

According to comments from Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman there now appears to be a serious interest in trading forward Martin Hanzal, but it sounds like the cost will be high. 

"Martin Hanzal's name has been up a lot, I think Arizona has gotten a lot of calls about him, and what I'm told what they're saying to people is unless  we got a young player who can play right now, preferably a center, we're not gonna do it."

The Coyotes failed to agree to terms on a new deal over the summer with Hanzal, and the soon to be unrestricted free agent made it clear he would not negotiate terms during the season, so trading him before he walks away for free makes a great deal of sense for Arizona. However a young NHL ready center is a huge price to ask for what could amount to being just a rental player for the team acquiring him.

.That being said the former first round pick has been on the radar of several teams for some time now, and don't be surprised if an organization looking for a final piece before a Stanley Cup run picks him up before the season is over.
