The rivalry between the Boston Bruins and the Toronto Maple Leafs has become a rather intense one over the course of the past several seasons and unfortunately for the Maple Leafs it has been the Bruins who have come out on top more often than not. Simply being on the losing end of such a heated rivalry would be bad enough for any particular fan base to deal with, but the fact that the Bruins have the added annoyance of having a player like star forward Brad Marchand in their midst makes things all the more painful for the fans in Toronto.

That reality was on full display on Friday night when the Maple Leafs welcomed the Bruins to the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto for what ostensibly was just another game during the 2019 - 2020 National Hockey League regular season, but one that everyone knew would carry much more significance. Not only was it a chance for the Maple Leafs to defeat their bitter rivals on home ice but it also happened to be the day that kicked off the Hall of Fame festivities for this year's class of inductees, many of whom were in attendance for this particular contest. Unfortunately for the Maple Leafs things did not go their way and it was clear from the body language on the bench that the Toronto players were dejected at the fact that they had once again lost an important game to a Bruins team that has simply refused to take their foot off the Maple Leafs' collective throat.

The loss was bad enough but things were made even worse when once again Brad Marchand took center stage and did his best effort to troll the fans in Toronto right out of the building. Given that this was the start of the Hall of Fame festivities, Marchand was award a trophy for being the "player of the game," and it was obvious that he relished the moment in front of the Toronto crowd. Not only did Marchand have a massive grin on his face while he accepted the trophy, but he also took the time to perform a little victory lap in front of the pro Maple Leafs crowd to show off his trophy amidst a chorus of boos.

Marchand commented on what was obviously an effort to troll the fans in Toronto over the weekend and needless to say he wasn't showing the Maple Leafs fan base any mercy.

“I thought they were expecting me to do a lap, so I did a lap,” Marchand said as per The Hockey News. “The fans just seemed so excited that I got it that I thought they would enjoy a little half lap there. Showed it off, got a lot of good cheers. It was fun.”

No doubt fans in Toronto are hoping they will soon have a shot at revenge, but given the way things have been going who knows when that opportunity will come. It won't be anytime soon if the Bruins notorious agitator has anything to say about it.
