Here’s something you don’t see everyday on social media… Brad Marchand pumping the tires of a Toronto Maple Leafs player.

After the Leafs’ victory over the Calgary Flames last night, the NHL’s PR team tweeted out a stat that Marner is the eighth player in franchise history to hit the 80 point mark in 66 or fewer games.

Check it out:

This, for whatever reason, prompted Marchand to reply with his prediction for Marner’s next deal:

Yikes… Leafs fans probably don’t want to hear that, even if it is a ringing endorsement for one of their favourite players. For what it’s worth, Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas has his work cut out for him with Marner’s extension this upcoming offseason. With both the William Nylander and Auston Matthews negotiations in the rear view mirror now, the focus is almost solely on Marner now and getting him under contract for the foreseeable future. A $12 million annual deal might be a stretch, but Marner could reasonably command something in the $10 million per season range. No word yet though on whether Marner will have Marchand represent him in negotiations…
