Last season’s Vezina Trophy winner has made it clear who he believes should start between the pipes for Team Canada at the World Cup of Hockey.
Washington Capitals’ star goaltender Braden Holtby told The Washington Post that Carey Price is the right choice:
“… if Carey Price is healthy there’s no reason not to go with him. He has all of the experience internationally and the smart choice is obviously that.”
Perhaps Holtby is right, considering Price’s last outing with the national team saw him post a .927 save percentage and a 0.59 goals-against average en route to a gold medal, whereas Holtby’s experience was limited to a U-18 appearance despite a 48-victory season in 2015-2016.
