Brassard denies latest rumours on ridiculous contract demands!

It might be too late to fix this...

Derick Brassard keeps shopping around as an unrestricted free agent ever since the hockey blog Dans Les Coulisses in Montreal reported last week that he has got four Eastern Conferences teams interested in getting his services.

The four teams are reportedly American clubs and two of them are former teams for which he played in the past. That would include the Rangers, Columbus Blue Jackets, Pittsburgh Penguins and Florida Panthers.

However, talks might have cooled down when Jason Gregor of TSN 1260 revealed that Brassard was seeking a four-year deal at a AAV of $4 million.

Now, the 31-year-old is doing everything he can to get the interest back from the teams as he denied his crazy contract demands on Friday on the air of TVA Sports.

We hope he is not seeking as much because we can’t see anyone offering as much to sign him. Brassard isn’t the player he once was… He put up a career-best 60 points with the New York Rangers back in 2014-15. The following season, he rang up 27 goals. For the last few years, it’s been downhill from there!

He is a centre who has shown in the past he can both check and score, sure, but has become more of a third-line centre. He remains a good option for that role on the league’s scarce market, but not for a high price!

Let’s hope teams have been informed about his dismissal of these rumours and maybe he could get inked in the near future…
