BREAKING: #1 Goalie Placed on Long-Term Injured Reserve

Moments ago, the Detroit Red Wings proceeded to place goaltender Jimmy Howard on the long-term injured reserve. 




Howard, 32, suffered a sprained MCL last December and was initially expected to miss anywhere between 4-6 weeks. 

The netminder was having an impressive season with the Red Wings before Tampa Bay Lightning forward Erik Condra and AHL defenseman call-up Nick Jensen both fell awkwardly on Howard during a matchup. 

Earlier today, it was believed that perhaps Howard was ahead of his rehabilitation schedule as he took to the ice in full goalie equipment and did drills with goaltending coach Jeff Salajko. That is clearly not the case...
