Scott Gomez has called it quits on his 16-year career.

The veteran forward told the Alaska Dispatch News that his time has come: “This has been my life. It’s so weird to think I’m never going to play hockey again… But I’m done. I’m done.”

Gomez, once upon a time a Stanley Cup winner during the 1999-2000 season which saw him also take home the Calder Trophy awarded to the rookie of the year with the New Jersey Devils, retires with 756 points over a 1,079-game career.

The Team USA player and two-time All-Star was shipped from one location to another, playing with the Devils, New York Rangers, Montreal Canadiens, San Jose Sharks, St. Louis Blues and the Ottawa Senators before attempting to come back to the Devils unsuccessfully.
