Breaking: 2 hockey players died before their time in a car-crash.

Tragic news coming from the Cape Cod area as two teenagers died in a car accident that happened thursday night whilst returning from their hockey practice in Falmouth. Owen Higgins, 17, and James Lavin also 17-year-old played for the Falmouth High School Hockey team.

"FALMOUTH -- Owen Higgins, a 17-year-old Falmouth High School hockey player, died Friday afternoon at a Rhode Island hospital after suffering severe injuries in a one-car crash Thursday night. His friend and teammate, 17-year-old James Lavin, died at the scene. Lavin had been driving Higgins in the car when it left the road and crashed into the woods about a half-hour after they left hockey practice at Falmouth Ice Arena. Higgins died "with his family by his side," according to a Falmouth Police statement." as per Cape Cod Times

"The crash happened at about 6:45 p.m. on Thomas Landers Road near Geggatt Road. Lavin was driving a dark-color sedan with Higgins in the passenger seat when he veered off the side of the road and slammed through a row of trees. Lavin was pronounced dead at the scene. Higgins was airlifted to a local hospital. On Friday night, police announced Higgins succumbed to his injuries." as per the Falmouth Patch.
