A young defenseman will get a big opportunity.

The Chicago Blackhawks are looking for help on the blue line and that has general manager Stan Bowman exercising every possible option.

On Thursday Quebec Major Junior Hockey League insider Mikael Lalancette revealed that 20-year-old defenseman David Henley has received an invite to join the Blackhawks at their rookie camp this summer.

Henley has been playing with the Val d'Or Foreurs for the past two seasons and is coming off by far his best season with that team. During the 2016-2017 campaign he appeared in 55 games with the Foreurs, scoring 5 goals and 16 assists for a total of 21 points.

It's seems unlikely that the undrafted Henley will receive a National Hockey League contract after the rookie camp, but clearly the Blackhawks see some potential in him and could be interested in developing him through their American Hockey League affiliate. Of course all of this is merely speculation at this time.
