Breaking: 23-year-old NHL forward has demanded a trade.

We have a very interesting report, one that is currently being denied by the National Hockey League organization most directly involved.

According to a shocking report from Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman earlier today, 23-year-old Columbus Blue Jackets forward Josh Anderson has demanded a trade following a long contract battle between himself and the team this summer.

The restricted free-agent is clearly unhappy with the way negotiations have progressed and considering how close we are now to the regular season it's hard to blame the young man who has yet to join the Blue Jackets for training camp.

Now however Friedman is reporting that the Blue Jackets have denied this report, or at the very least are claiming to be ignorant of any such trade demand from Anderson and his camp.

“This trade request is news to me,” said Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen as per Friedman. “And we are not looking to trade Josh Anderson.”

Friedman also reached out to Anderson's agent Darren Farris, however Farris refused to provide any additional comment, leading many to speculate that the absence of a denial from the agent indicates there is indeed a request.

Anderson was set to be a big part of the Columbus offense this season and was coming off his best NHL season thus far with 17 goals and 12 assists for 29 points in 78 games last season.
