The Vancouver Canucks have placed center Michael Chaput on waivers.

The move was necessitated by the return of Canucks star Bo Horvat, who gets back into the team’s lineup after recovering from a lower body injury.

The 25-year-old Chaput has gone pointless in nine games with the Canucks this season, but has also managed nine goals and 16 points in 23 games with the AHL’s Utica Comets.

Chapati was a personal favorite of former Canucks head coach Willie Desjardins and played a career high 68 NHL games under Desjardins last season. This season under new head coach Travis Green however, things haven’t gone exactly as planned for Chaput.

As for Horvat, his return should be a HUGE boost for a Canucks team that is starved for offence. Despite playing in roughly have of the team’s game, Horvat is 6th in team scoring. Look for him to slot in between rookie Brock Boeser and winger Sven Baertschi as the Canucks take on the Winnipeg Jets this afternoon.
