For young players placed on the waiver wire it can be a time of uncertainty, but often being claimed can mean new opportunity and a fresh start, unfortunately for now former Montreal Canadiens Mark Barberio this is highly unlikely to feel like a positive experience.

When Barberio was placed on waivers Wednesday by the Habs it seemed like there was a good chance he would be claimed, and that was in fact the case with the Colorado Avalanche quickly snatching him up.

Unfortunately for Barberio he now goes from one of the most historic organizations in the National Hockey League and one of the favorites to contend for the Stanley Cup to arguably the worst team in the NHL and an organization that seems to be in disarray at the moment.

It's not like Barberio wasn't get a chance to develop in Montreal either, having appeared in 26 games for the team already this season, now he's headed to a team that seems more interested in selling off it's assets than developing them at the moment.
