A seemingly innocuous morning skate has apparently turned into what looks like a nasty injury.

According to a breaking news report from Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press, Red Wings defenseman Brian Lashoff was suffered some form of injury during the skate.

It's unclear at this time exactly what happened to Lashoff but from the image provided we can see that he is clutching a towel to his face as he is accompanied off the ice by two trainers. It's merely speculation at this point but it seems likely that Lashoff may have suffered some form of laceration to his face, or some type of injury of that nature.

More to come.

Update: According to a report from Ted Kulfan of the Detroit News Lashoff took a puck to the face.
