Breaking: 7 players hit the waiver wire, including 2 former first rounders!

It is Saturday and a few players hit the NHL waiver wire. While each player from yesterday’s crop successfully passed through waivers unclaimed, a few names on today’s list may pique the interest of general managers across the NHL.

The most intriguing names? Well former first round picks Peter Holland and Tom McCollum could generate some interest. 

Holland was picked in the first round of the 2009 NHL Draft by the Anaheim Ducks, who selected him 15th overall. Holland signed a contract with the Montreal Canadiens shortly after the unrestricted free agent market opened last summer. He boasts 243 games of NHL experience on his resume with the Ducks, Toronto Maple Leafs and the Arizona Coyotes. He recorded 35 career goals and 81 points so far.

As for McCollum, he was picked in the first round by the Detroit Red Wings - who has just placed him waivers, back in 2008.
