Breaking: Alex OVechkin appears to have been seriously injured.

We have a shocking develop in the first round series between the Washington Capitals and Toronto Maple Leafs.

In the very first period of Friday night's Game 5 between these two teams, Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nazem Kadri went low on Washington Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin.

Kadri's hit caught Ovechkin right on the knee, and immediately it looked like he was in a great deal of pain and he remained on the ice for several long moments. Ovechkin did eventually get up but could not make it to the locker room without help from the trainers.

A horrible sign for the Capitals.
