Breaking: Another late night trade in the NHL.

Stanley Cup contenders are finally starting to load up their rosters in a major way, and the latest team to do so is the Washington Capitals.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have officially announced the trade of forward Daniel Winnik and Anaheim's 2016 5th round draft pick(previously acquired in a trade) to Washington, in exchange they will receive 21 year old defensive prospect Connor Carrick, Washintgon's 2nd round pick in 2016 and veteran forward Brooks Laich .

The Capitals get an extremely versatile forward with terrific puck possession numbers, especially when you take into account he plays for a bad team, and is likely exactly the kind of addition head coach Barry Trotz is looking for in the post season.

For the Maple Leafs it's another young prospect, and yet another draft pick as the continue to truly commit to a rebuild, Brooks Laich is likely a salary dump for Washington, take $4 million of the books for this season as well as the next.
