This is quite the blow as the Colorado Avalanche keeps fighting for a playoff spot... The Avalanche are four points behind the Minnesota Wild for the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Western Conference.

Gabriel Landeskog is expected to miss four to six weeks for the Avalanche with an upper-body injury.

There are about four weeks left in the regular season...

The Avalanche captain was  injured on a collision with Dallas Stars goalie Ben Bishop in the third period of a 4-0 loss on Thursday night.

"I was right behind him when it happened," Colorado forward Mikko Rantanen said, per NHL.com. "I think Bishop kind of tackled him behind the net, and that's where he got hurt. I hope it's nothing serious and we get our captain back in the lineup."

Landeskog is second on the Avalanche with 33 goals this season and third in points with 69 in 68 games.
