The Colorado Avalanche have made a major organization change following a catastrophic season.

While there has been no official announcement, according to a report from Avalanche insider Mike Chambers of the Denver Post, the Avalanche will make the Colorado Eagles their new American Hockey League affiliate beginning next season.

According to Chambers, two sources with knowledge of the situation have informed him that the Eagles, currently of the ECHL, will become the 31 American Hockey League franchise.

Presumably this indicates that the Avalanche will be ending their partnership with the San Antonio Rampage, something that had previously been rumored over the past several weeks.

One has to wonder after such a bad season if this will just be the first of many major changes to come to the organization.
