Breaking: Avs lock up promising young forward
Keystone Press

The Colorado Avalanche have announced that they’ve avoided arbitration with Matt Nieto and signed him to a one year, $1 million deal.

Good deal for the player and the team. The 24 year-old winger was picked up on waivers from the San Jose Sharks last season and managed seven goals and 11 points in 43 games with the Avs to close out the season.

Armed with a new agreement in his back pocket, let’s hope that the once promising prospect can finally gain some traction in the NHL and become a regular for the Avs in 2017-18.
