When forward Jeff Carter suffered a lower-body injury during Wednesday's game against the Montreal Canadiens and did not return, the Los Angeles Kings did not go into panic mode.

However, the story is changing this morning, as TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie is reporting that Carter is expected to miss several weeks of actions.

“Going to be a little while,” a team source told Jon Rosen about the severity of the injury.

The Kings will likely be forced to shuffle its power-play and even strength lines. They open a six-game trip in Columbus on Saturday, followed by stops in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Boston and St. Louis.

In six games, Carter has three assists, a minus-one rating and two penalty minutes.

The team already has an open roster spot in the wake of Kyle Clifford’s upper-body injury: now more vacancies need to be filled by forwards.
