There was quite the cry scene in Boston tonight when Bruins veteran forward David Backes' face was lacerated by the blade of a skate during Tuesday night's tilt against the Arizona Coyotes.

Star defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson fell to the ice and somehow his leg kicked up in the air and the skate blade sliced open Backes' face. As you will be able to see in the footage below, the scene is quite hard to watch...

Backes immediately sprinted off the ice tossing his gloves off as he covered his bloody face heading toward the dressing room. It was a good thing the impact of the blade appeared to get close to his mouth area rather than his neck or his eyes, but it was still a totally scary situation.

To prove that hockey players are real soldiers, Backes was back to action on the ice at the start of the second period.
