Breaking: Bad news for young Flyers star Carter Hart.

A huge blow for the Flyers.

The Philadelphia Flyers have been unable to catch a break all season long and it seems like things may now have finally hit rock bottom for the Flyers this season.

The Flyers currently find themselves 8 full points out of a playoff spot in the National Hockey League's 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs and with the same number of games played as the team they need to leap frog, bitter rivals the Pittsburgh Penguins, it seems unlikely that the Flyers have enough time to make up lost ground. If there was to be one faint glimmer of hope for the Flyers this season however it had to be in the form of rookie goaltender Carter Hart. The 20 year old net minder has been in many ways something of a savior for the Flyers this season recording a 2.79 goals against average and a 9.17 save percentage in the 22 games he has played in since being called up to the main roster by general manager Chuck Fletcher. Even that faint glimmer of hope however has now been extinguished.

According to an official announcement from the Philadelphia Flyers organization the team has lost Carter Hart for what will be at least the next 10 games of action. The Flyers are reporting that Hart has suffered some form of lower body injury that will keep him out of action in the near future, and given how good he has looked for the franchise thus far you can bet that they are going to be extra careful about bringing him back too early into the line up.

Now due to the injury to Hart it will be veteran goaltender Brian Elliott who gets the start on Saturday in the Flyers outdoor game against those aforementioned rivals the Pittsburgh Penguins, something that I have no doubt will be a tremendous disappointment to the Flyers fans who were planning on attending and expected to see Hart between the pipes.

If you are looking for a silver lining here well I've got one for you. Fans paying close attention will have noticed that Hart has struggled as of late between the pipes, and there is some indication that this same lower body injury may have played some part in those struggles. If that is indeed the case you can expect Hart to be more like his old self when he returns to action in the net.
