According to a report from Sportsnet reporter and Vancouver Canucks insider Dan Murphy, forward Sven Baertschi will be out of the team’s lineup for 4-6 weeks with a fractured jaw.

The good news is that Baertschi will not need surgery, which would push his return date even further down the road.

Baertschi took a puck in the face during the team’s 4-2 loss to the Calgary Flames last night. It didn’t appear to hit him in the eye, but rather the jaw.

This is awful news for the Canucks who are already without the services of top forwards Bo Horvat and Brandon Sutter

In 30 games this season Baertschi has scored eight goals and 18 points and looked to have found his rhythm alongside Horvat and rookie Brock Boeser. Canucks fans were hoping for a breakout season from the 25-year-old following a 18 goal and 35 points season in 2016-17.
