You've heard the rumor before: Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin is debating the idea of a rebuild and might use his top scorer of the past few seasons and captain Max Pacioretty to get an interesting return.

Now, rumors have hinted at the possibility of Pacioretty getting shipped out of Montreal before the Feb. 26 trade deadline, but NHL insider Nick Kypreos gave more information on a potential deal during the second intermission of tonight's game between the Habs and Florida Panthers on CBC

Kypreos explained that Bergevin is looking for a top scorer, a younger one that 29-year-old Pacioretty and some picks. Now, Bergevin is believed to be using Colorado Avalanche GM Joe Sakic's strategy, as the former NHL great was to pull off quite the blockbuster trade for his top scorer Matt Duchene in early November.

As Kyrpreos added, Bergevin will not settle, and if he cannot find the return he seeks before the trade deadline, Pacioretty could be traded around the NHL Entry Draft in June.

We all know Sakic was more than patient with the right deal for Duchene, as the poor forward was on the trade block for almost two years.

However, with the strained relationship between Pacioretty and head coach Claude Julien, we could see the Habs captain putting pressure on the GM's shoulders to be out of Montreal sooner.
