Breaking: Big Crosby update on Monday Morning.

The Pittsburgh Penguins fan base has not had a great deal to cheer about thus far into the 2018 - 2019 National Hockey League regular season but there is now some very good news indeed. 

On Monday morning the Pittsburgh Penguins officially announced that Penguins captain Sidney Crosby was making his return to the ice for the Penguins morning skate. Not only is that promising news in and of itself but based on the picture provided by the Penguins it appears that Crosby is also a full participant in today's practice which would seemingly indicate that he is drawing very close to making his return to game time action. In the photo Crosby can be seen wearing a standard Penguins practice jersey and appears to be firing the puck with some considerable force which, again, both indicate to me that this is full participation from Crosby today.

The Penguins superstar was suddenly pulled out of the line up in the middle of last week when it was revealed that he had suffered some form of undisclosed upper body injury. Obviously the big concern at the time was that Crosby had suffered another head injury of some sort but head coach Mike Sullivan quickly dispelled those fears when he announced that the injury was not concussion related. In spite of that however the injury was only announced after Crosby was forced to miss practice last Wednesday and he has not appeared in a single one of the Penguins' games since that announcement. 

Although you never want to rush an injured player back into the line up, especially not one as important to your franchise as Sidney Crosby is to the Penguins, it would be an understatement to suggest that the Penguins desperate need Crosby back on the roster as soon as possible. The Penguins now find themselves dead last in the Metropolitan division and they have not had a start to the season this bad in over a decade, meaning they need allthe help they can get. 

General manager Jim Rutherford has reportedly wanted to see his roster with both recently acquired Tanner Pearson and a healthy Crosby in the line up before making any additional moves, and he may not have to wait much longer.
