This one comes as a big surprise and as a result we think he may actually be claimed off the waiver wire.

After putting up 41 points (20 goals, 21 assists) last year as a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs, veteran forward P.A. Parenteau signed a $1.25 million dollar deal with the New York Islanders during the offseason, but it doesn't seem like the Islanders are too concerned about keeping him on the roster.

According to a breaking news report from TVA Sports, the 33 year old has been placed on the waiver wire by the Islanders organization, making him eligible to be claimed by any team in the National Hockey League, and with the sheer number of professional tryout offers out there, we have no doubt at least one of those teams will find use for his skills up front.

His contract is very manageable against the cap, he brings experience, and he can produce on both sides of the ice, expect more to come on this one later today.
