The Chicago Blackhawks have added some muscle to their line up.
The organization officially announced on Tuesday that they have signed veteran forward Jordin Tootoo to a one-year contract. This is clearly a decision by general manager Stan Bowman to add a measure of grit to his line up, perhaps a reaction to losing the physical presence of players like Andrew Shaw and Andrew Ladd.
Tootoo most recently appeared for in 66 games for the New Jersey Devils during the 2016-2017 season, recording just 4 goals and 5 assists over that stretch and posting an abysmal -26 to go alongside with his 9 points. His willingness to throw down and his 102 penalty minutes from last season are without a doubt the motivation for Chicago to sign him.
