Hall of Fame Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Pierre Pilote has died at the age of 85.

The news came in the form of a tweet from Chicago Tribute Blackhawks beat reporter Mark Lazerus.


Pilote was a three-time recipient of the Norris Trophy as outstanding defenceman in 19631964, and 1965 as well as runner-up in 19621966 and 1967. He was on the first or second all-star team every year from 1960 to 1967. During his playing career, he once played 376 consecutive games.

Pilote was a member of Chicago's Stanley-Cup winning team in In 1961, before being named captain of the squad at the beginning of the following season.
