The Chicago Blackhawks’ 2015 6th round pick in the NHL Entry Draft has joined their farm team on an amateur tryout agreement.

Roy Radke is a 20-year-old right winger who is coming off another great season with the OHL’s Barrie Colts. He set a career high in goals (23) and in point production this season, totally 36 points in 45 games.

The Chicago, Illinois native is a big skater (6’2, 205 lbs) with an even bigger shot. He responded well to increasing responsibility and minutes over his last two OHL seasons, and appears ready to make the leap into the AHL.

Radke joins Luc Snuggerud and Anthony Louis in Rockford, all three prospects have signed amateur tryout contracts with the Blackhawks in the last month. Chicago has signed Snuggerud, Louis, and John Hayden (who is currently playing with the big club) to entry-level contracts. Radke will be looking to secure one of his own.

As the Blackhawks look forward to a deep playoff run after a dominating regular season, the yearly salary cap struggle can’t be to far from anyone’s mind. Chicago brass has a talent for signing prospects and propelling them into the slots vacated by expensive veteran players, and Radke knows as well as anyone that playing in the Blackhawks organization could mean catapulting into the NHL.

Suiting up for the Hawks is undoubtedly the dream for this Chicago son, his tryout with the IceHogs could be his first step towards realizing that dream.
