The Chicago Blackhawks have announced a pair of interesting signings.
First, at the top of the list is the addition of a brand new goaltender following the signing of 24-year-old former Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Anton Forsberg, whom they acquired as part of the trade for Brandon Saad, to a two-year deal.
Forsberg has had limited experience with just 10 career games at the National Hockey League level, however he is coming off a huge season with the Cleveland Monsters, one that saw him record a 2.28 goals against average and .926 save percentage over 51 American Hockey League games. Forsberg is likely set to see more NHL ice time as a backup with the Blackhawks.
In addition to the Forsberg signing, the Blackhawks have also re-signed 24-year-old forward Tomas Jurco, a forward whom they acquired in a trade with the Red Wings back in February of this year. Despite the fact that he had just 1 goal in just 13 appearances for Chicago following that trade, the Blackhawks felt confident in handing him a one-year deal.
