This just in, according to NHL insider Pierre LeBrun, the Chicago Blackhawks have reportedly traded forward Brendan Perlini to the Detroit Red Wings.

Details to come.

The 23 year old Perlini has played just one game this season and reportedly asked for a trade from Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman if he wasn't going to get an increase in playing time.

Perlini was acquired by the Blackhawks along with forward Dylan Strome from the Arizona Coyotes last season, but struggled to find consistency with the Blackhawks since arriving. He put up a respectable 12 goals in 46 games last season, but obviously didn't do enough to convince head coach Jeremy Colliton that he's deserving of more ice time.

While we don't yet know what the return is for Perlini, it's probably safe to assume that Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman didn't have to pay a huge price to acquire the former 12th overall pick. It's not exactly a secret that the Wings have had a difficult time finding the scoresheet this season and Perlini could potentially give them an additional top-six option.

Again, stay tuned for more details.

UPDATE: The Blackhawks have now officially confirmed that they've acquired junior defenseman Alec Regula from the Red Wings in exchange for Perlini.
